Come to Florida. We have guns and ammo and are allowed to carry them on our person and kill people right on the street with them if we feel threatened by someone. We have no emissions. an influx of illegal aliens from Cuba and plenty of criminals too! It's like the wild west down here...Every man for himself. Please join us
I can't understand how you guys like Cali so much. I went there once and couldn't wait to get the heck out of dodge! Man that place is a friken disaster. Over priced homes, too many illegals, too many ****, too many democrates, too many truely clueless tree huggers, too many (insert your choice of bad things here)
California is the socialist mecca. Uber-intrusive, willing to step on the Consitution and take more and more money to give to everyone. Even non-Americans. Does not surprise me that you cannot even buy paint.
Grunt... I agree, I was stationed in San Diego for awhile and lived outside of San Francisco.... I live in Florida now... I couldn't handle Cal now..... Do miss RT 1 riding...
I'm with Cryptoboy. I was in CA for six months in Sand Diego, beautiful but expensive. Impossible to get concealed carry, stupid laws and regulations, and the first post is another example of the crazy wacko fringe who are ending up taking over that state.
I moved to AZ and never looked back. I can visit now, just takes 5.5 hours to get to S.D. I ride year round here in AZ and when the temps get too hot I just head for the cool mountains and high desert.
California seems to be a nice place to visit but I would never live there. It truly is the socialist mecca. I just don't understand how the majority can be so backward from most the rest of the US. Florida is not exactly my idea of heaven but it is extremely gun and gunowner friendly. There is no registration, concealed carry is easily obtained if you're not a felon or wifebeater. You can buy all the guns you want without question. The new self defense laws that went into effect last October were a HUGE step in the right direction. There are no emissions tests and you can ride year-round. I'll take hurricanes over earthquakes anyday. Their effect is mostly overblown by the media. While the four that hit here in 2004 did A LOT of damage, it was really the rare exception.
I'd still rather be about 600miles further north though.

I used to live in Guam, where even though it was just a tiny speck (30 miles long, 4 miles wide) in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, it seemed to be a magnet for Typhoons (aka Hurricanes). It rained every day, all year round, and Typhoons would hit us several times a year, sometimes back to back within weeks, just like Florida. One of the problems was also the government and the infrastuture, we would not have power and water for months at a time. It was so bad that the power would go out a few days before the Typhoon hit (seriuosly). I do like it here in California, the weather is awesome and no rain for months and summer is not too hot, but the legislation here is truly ridiculous. I see the destruction that Hurricanes make every year, several times a year, but earthquakes are very seldom. So bottom line is I choose earthquakes over hurricanes and typhoons.

See, that's the kind of exaggeration I'm talking about. It is the rare storm that causes much trouble. Mostly just a little wind and rain. The news makes every coming storm out to be the end of civilization. The people who've moved here within a couple years (there's a lot of them!) may live in fear but those who have been here a while don't. I was born here and really don't pay much attention to it all. Even after working for utility companies for nine years, 99% of the time they are a nuisance at best.
It does not rain here every day, year round. Far from it. In the late spring and thoughout summer, it tends to rain a few times a week but it can also go weeks without. In the late fall and throughout winter and early spring, it really doesn't rain much at all. Actually, we've been on water restrictions for years. Probably would seem like a lot of rain for somebody from southern California though.
I want to leave Florida because it's so damn hot, humid, flat and overcrowded. Development is out of control. Not because of any other factor, hurricanes included.
