7k + on Scorchers, and the tread looks nearly new (both front and back.) Pleased with the performance, wet and dry. And, my riding style is moderately aggressive. No buzz.
Strange how some don't get the buzz as it is very noticeable. I wonder if the type of roads have any effect. It can't just be the HD emblem as I don't have to lay it down that far to feel it. When I am in town I can feel is not long after I leave the center of the tread. Otherwise I have been pleased with them and how they wear.

its not the HD logo buzzing, however it is the larger tread blocks especially once the tire gets a little flat in the center and they start to feather some. No different than a mud tire on a pickup.
I never herd the buzzing with mine, maybe by the time my tire wore enough to buzz my exhaust noise covered it up. Also pavement type will play a role in tire noise, concrete and very smooth asphalt will show the buzz more so than course blacktop and chip and seal type roads. I notice a big difference in tire noise depending on the surface with the mud tires on my truck, my nitto mud grapplers would howl like an air plane at 70mph on concrete and you can hear them for miles.

My scorcher's have 4,000 on them and look like new. It is not the emblem. Mine "buzz" anytime not on the center tread. Road surface changes the tone from a low buzz to a roar sometimes. I have not had any issues yet with traction. Can't speak to the commanders.

That is exactly how mine is. As soon as I get off of the center groove and onto the cross grooves it makes a buzz and you can also feel it in the bars. The noise is not loud, it is the vibration that I don't like. Otherwise they have been about the best tire I have used. They wear well and on mine very evenly with no feathering or cupping so far. My front has over 50% left and my rear is almost due for replacement. Why I am looking at other tires is I can replace both of the tires for the same cost as only buying the rear from a dealer. The only place online I found the 31's online at it works out to about the same cost for the rear or a set of something else. My favorites so far are the C II, the Dragons and the 888's. Of the three I like the performance of the Dragons best, but the long wearing center on the C II's would work good here as most of the highways are long and not too many curves.
I have used both on my wide glide. It came with the scorchers and I replaced them with commander IIs when they wore out. They are both good tires but in my opinion the commanders are a little better. They have lasted longer and have slightly better traction in wet conditions.
ETA: the scorchers had 8,000 miles on them when I replaced them and my bike now has 20,000 miles on it so the commanders have 12,000 miles on them and still have a good amount of tread left.
Commander II isn't available in a 180/60/17. What did you replace it with?
I'm going to guess he went with a 160/70r17 like most other dynas use.
Yes this is what I did. I liked the look of the wider tire a little more but everything else about the commander II is better. The biggest improvement for me was easier cornering. And I put a 90/90r21 on front and no more following grooves on the road.

I've had two street bobs, a 2011 and now my 2013 (2011 got totaled) I first noticed the vibration buzz on my 2011 and thought something was wrong. When I got my 2013 and it did the same thing I figured it was the tire (scorchers on both) and after reading this thread I'm convinced it is. Glad I'm not the only one to notice it haha. I think I'll try the commander II once it's time for a new set.

I say give the Pirelli Night Dragons a through look before you decide on commader II's.
