Could somebody please post some detailed photos of their standard forward controls please.....both sides.
After hiring a bike with them fitted I'm tempted to fit them to my Dyna but I've been looking at the cost of them . They don't look that complicated so may have a go making my own but need some photos as a starting point
Not the best pics, but here are some. They are worth it for me, much more comfortable. I don't know about fabricating your own, not that you can't but it would likely take more of your time than it would be worth vs just buying ready made ones. Don't have any pics of the left from a side angle on my computer. Just took these pictures today after getting some new parts in the mail.
I've got the HD chrome ones, with Kuryakyn ISO pegs. I've got some chrome peg pins to replace the rusting hardware that came with my Kuryakyns.
there would be a bit of work in making them, I make what ever i can but my genuine ones were only about $280 so wouldn't be worth the effort and time making a set
Thanks for that guys - most helpful. I've now found some cheaper than the first ones I found, which were knocking on $600. Seems I can get cheaper ones for around $290ish. They still don't look that hard to make though - I have full workshop facilties here and often make my own bits - it's the fettler in me!
I'll not be doing it 'til the end of summer anyway - winter project. I was actually quite comfy on the bike 'til I hired one with forwards on for my hols and it was great - loved it. When i got back and clmbed on the Harley it didn't seem as comfy anymore. My only concern is that on the Dyna the standard ones may be a bit of a stretch for me, I'm only a short guy with a 29" inseam. That would be one advantage of making my own I suppose - I could tailor them to suit.
Krazy8, if you could still photograph yours for me that would be great
I paid $360 for mine. Another $100 to have a local shop install them, including pulling the primary to remove the stock shifter shaft and associated hardware. Glad I went that route. Your current pegs will work with them. The HD forwards that HD sells for Dynas that come with mid controls are the same forwards that come on Dynas that come with forwards. Have your choice of chrome or wrinkle black, they come with everything hardware wise for installation.
I installed the HD forwards on mine. I found them on eBay for around $220. They were very easy to install, just bolted on. The HD instructions require the primary covers be pulled, but do a search on here about how some guys skipped this step. Once you dive into the install, it will become more clear why the instuctions call for this. I ended up cutting my shifting lever off with a hacksaw blade like many others have done (very easy and a lot cheaper than disassembling the primary).
