Default Oil Cooler

Getting ready to order oil cooler for my 2010 WG. Any preferences between Jagg and HD, any recommendations regarding what size if I go with Jagg and anyone have pics of how they mounted theirs? Thanks.

To my knowledge the HD ones are re-badged JAGG coolers. If you read the descriptions, they are almost word for word.

I have the HD version on mine. Harley's website plainly shows how it's mounted and I like the unobtrusive looks of it. I've seen others that look like they belong on a John Deere.

How it compares, quality and effectiveness-wise to others? I have no clue. But I'm not going to be running through the High Sierras at 100 MPH either.

I think you're wise to get one, regardless of who you get it from. Unless you live in a place where the temperature never gets above 85* for any length of time, I see an oil cooler as a 'must have' item.

Older models like Panheads and Shovels? The oil never saw temperatures above 200*. Even the early Evos were pretty decent. Which is a good thing, because above 250* the VIIs (Viscosity Index Improvers) in conventional oils are PERMANENTLY destroyed (another subject). The oil in newer Twin Cams regularly sees temperatures above 250* which is why you need to be running synthetic in them -- AND an oil cooler.

I'm useing the jagg slimline verticle mount. No pics. Mounts to the left side frame down tube. Its out of the way of the front wheel so its catching good air flow. I got mine in standard black paint no chrome so It doesnt stand out. you have to really look to see it. Mounted on an FXDL. My buddy at work mounted a horizontal HD model on his street glide and it looks like the front tire blocks the air and the tire kicks up a lot of debrie on to the cooler. Hes thinkin on moving it a bit because of that.

Look at www.fuelingparts.com. I use their oil cooler. It has a filter in it. Works great.

G: It doesn't.

and the tire kicks up a lot of debrie on to the cooler.

G: That's why God invented the garden hose. And those things are a LOT tougher than you might think. A lot.

Everybody's different. I respect that. Everybody has different opinions. I respect that, too.

As the contortionist said, to each his own.

recently had an ultracool oil cooler installed...they have a fan that comes on automatically if temperature rises too much. great in stop and go traffic. paid $350 from dr. v-twin shipped. the harley one is nearly $300--without a fan. harley is now offering a retro-fit fan--so fans do work. i put it on mainly to lessen the heat on the rider and it is a big improvement.

I have the Harley cooler on my Street Glide and it has been working great. I have been "shopping" for a cooler for my Street Bob recently and checked out the Jagg as it was highly spoken of here and on other forums.

What I found was that the Jagg was nearly as much as the Harley filter and still required the purchase of an adapter to install it on the bike. Bottom line according to the Jagg site, I was going to be $400 (retail) into the cooler and adapter. I realize you can buy the Jagg products on e-bay and other auction sites but have pretty much determined I am going to go with the Harley cooler like my Street Glide has. Not sure on the fans, those seem like they would mainly be beneficial in town and I don't ride there much.

I like the idea of a fan but I'm not sure I'd wanna F-Up with the wiring and then have to deal with the maintenance thereafter (water, loose wires, blowing fuses, etc).

I'm a little conservative, though. But I do like the idea of one.

i run a lochart oil cooler, it is off a v twin sport bike... i love it! keeps the motor nice and cool, the adapter plate is the jack plate that HD sells, Chad got it wiht his Jagg cooler kit and he gave it to me and got a new one for his bike. so all i needed was the cooler
I run mine higher than the jagg one, i wnated to force air across it.
and i love how a cooler looks so i like to show it
