SDMF,
The bike looks awesome and I really like those whitewalls. Great way to get whitewalls for the Bob on the cheap and I don't think there are any avail in the sizes we need anyhow. I had contemplated whitewalls when the tires needed replacing and powdercoating my rims black ( I have a blue bob) and after seeing your results I think it is a real eyecatcher with just the chrome rims. Great job! and thanks for going and trying it and then sharing your results.
Here's the first coat of the white wall paint on the front tire. I'll post more as I get the back & second coats on. So far not to bad to apply. In case you wondering, yes it's the paint from Orn in Iceland.
SDMF, I showed this thread to a buddy of mine with a '86 sportster, bobber style, and he liked it so much that he's ordering the paint when he gets home. Thanks for sharing this. You're not just helping the people on the forum.

RudeDog...That's way cool man. I'm having a blast with this mod and if it inspires that makes it even better. I finished my third coat today, and as I had hoped each subsequent coat went on easier and quicker than the one before. I think the front is done and looks great, but the back tire needs one more coat on the brake side. I thought I cleaned it real good, but it had a little more of the browning effect than the rest. No matter, it won't take but 15-20 minutes to lay down one more coat. After that it's some light clean up around the rim and she's ready to roll. I'll post again in a few weeks after I have some miles on them to let everyone know if and how easy they clean up after getting some road grime on them.
Thanks to all you guy's for your kind words during this mod. As I said, I'm loving this one even though it means not riding for several days until the paint is cured. I think it's going to be well worth the wait. Next on deck is the Hotop plate holder, Motherwell Rack (flat black of course), and progressive 440's (what color do you think I should use?)
The clean up will be a good read, keep us posted. BTW, how long to cure is recommended before riding and what did you use to clean up the tires to get a good adhesion? I'll pass along your answers so he knows what to expect.

Thanks again!
Orn will send the paint with 2 inserts. One is a letter from a guy in Chicago who used and recommended cleaning the tires with 'Wesley's Bleche-White' You can pick it up at any automotive store. Orn's instructions say you can use paint thinner or a silicon cleaner. Curing time is 24hrs between coats (3 coats recommended) and 24hrs before riding after the last coat is applied. He also recommends 2-3 coats of 'STP's Son-Of-A-Gun' prior to the first ride and as the cleaner when the tires get dirty. Again, all instructions are included with the paint and on his web site posted earlier in the thread.
