hell Loners even MELTED off in the heat!
Dam, never thought I would see this thread again. Well anyways, being one of the few that have tried this I will just say what my experience was with it. I got the paint and applied it some time ago. At first it was kinda a pain in the a$$ to apply but I really wanted the whitewall look. At first it looked great. After a few weeks, I started to notice a yellowish look to it. This really got to me, so I decided to try and clean them up with real whitewall cleaner. It did take the grit and grim off, but as for the yellow off, no. About a week later after noticeing the yellow I was working on the bike and noticed that part of the paint was lifting. So I grab the piece and wanted to just pull it off. To my surpirise, as I tried to remove the lifting small piece, it expaned to the entire tire! I mean it came off like a mask in a large strip. Now looking like crap, I just removed all of it. This is where I decided to find a way to get real whitewalls. This is when I started the change from a 17" real wheel to a 16" real wheel and as of today, I have a 16" real wheel with real whitewalls that I can buy and anytime. It was a process to get the real thing, but dam well worth it.
So for anyone thinking about whitewall paint, just heed the warning that it is not all that it is cracked up to be. It may be well worth your time if you really want it to do the process to get a 16" rim or just wait for someone to come out with a 17" whitewall tire.
Hope this helps.
Something must be wrong.........I never did see a picture. But in MHO........I don't need to see a picture.............would never happen on any bike I owned!
I bought a product called plasti-dip. It seems to be a paint/rubber type of coating.
I want to do my front tire because I'm getting tired of waiting for a tire maker to
produce a real whitewall in the size I need. Some guys are stretching 21" avon tires,
but I don't want to chance it. Still not sure if I'm going to paint my tire.
