Default FOB delete?

Okay, I've had it with the FOB on my 2007 Superglide, I don't trust it and I don't need it.

Is there a way to perhaps install a switch to circumvent it? It might be nice to keep it around for certain occasions, but for the most part it is just a nuisance.

Yeah, last week-end I installed a new exhaust, new intake and a PC III.. I did it all at once and the bike didn't start when I got done. I figured that I messed up the wiring, so spent a few hours going over what I had just done, but finally gave up. Oh, yeah, I also used my plasma arc cutter to zip off the protruding end of stock front lower exhaust bracket that looked like would interfere with the new exhaust system. That seemed a lot easier than lifting the engine to get to the 3rd panhead socket screw that nothing in my arsenal of tools was able to remove. Ouch, did I fry my ECU while doing that? I did disconnect the battery, but what if???

I had to wait until Monday to call the shop, got it in on Friday. They called in the afternoon and found nothing wrong as the bike started right up.....
They suggested a new battery for the FOB.

At any rate, this isn't my first problem with the FOB, so I'm just asking if there is a way to disable it and just ride the bike!!! The fork locks are enough to give me peace of mind, but I haven't even felt the need to use them yet.

Any suggestions?

I know a guy who had the dealer remove the security/alarm system from his before he bought the bike . It's just a small module that plugs into the electrical caddy . Look in your owner's manual . I'm thinking of removing mine too , just not sure what all I need to do for it to work after the removal .

All you need to do is get the dealer to remove the security module and replace it with a regular turn signal module and reprogram the ECM.

I added the security feature to my 08 by replacing the Turn Signal Module (TSM) with a Turn Signal Security Module (TSSM).

Unpluged the one & pluged in the other. All you need is a TSM.

I'll trade you (or jaysonL) even... my TSM for your TSSM & fob. I'll send you mine 1st, you unplug your's & put it (with the fob) in the USPS Priority box mine comes in (I'll include a shipping lable). Install mine & if everything works... ship me your TSSM & fob.
If mine does not work for you... ship it back to me.
Easy... peasy.

Reprogramming the ECM is NOT necessary when going FROM security to non-security.
When I added my security it only came with one Fob, I got a second Fob... it required the Dealer to do something that 'keyed' the 2nd fob to the TSSM. It took less than 5 mins & cost $0.

I Believe you are correct. All a thief has to do is replace your TSSM with a TSM and security disabled. That is security at it's best.

Hey thanks for posting that. I was hoping the thieves were less proficient. How naive can I be???

If you look at the manual that came with your bike there is a way to bypass the security system (shut it off). Follow it and you should be fine. You will still have the security system on your bike in the event you want to use it later.
