Default Caution Dyna owners

Was servicing my (stock) air cleaner as part of the 10,000-mile service. Found there was no gasket under the filter element. Dealer had provided only the gasket which goes under the base-plate. The owners manual does not show any filter gasket, but has a note to install base-plate gasket. The service manual however does show a filter gasket, and says to replace it.

Called Moco Customer Service. First tech said there was no filter gasket. After I pointed out there was an actual photo of a gasket (and instructions to replace) in the service manual, a second tech then said there WAS a gasket, #29313-95.

Close examination showed some fine grit on the surface of the bore of the intake module. And the oil was very black when changed @ 10,000-miles. The filter element was really loaded w/ dirt, plus some bees, leaves,...
Note: These filter elements are simply washed w/ lukewarm water and mild detergent, then dried. I realize only now that I should not have waited til 10,000-miles to service it. Previous owner (said he) did the 5,000-mile service (and he is a professional mechanic). I took ownership @ 6,600 miles.

So I'm posting to give a heads-up to those of you who perform your own service--be sure to get that gasket.

Previous owner did the 1,000 & 5,000-mile services. I got it @ 6600 miles, cleaned it @ the 10,000-mile mark.
