Ok, so here's the deal...

If I sit on my bike and get comfortable, I need to have about a 4 inch pullback from the stock grips. The stock grips are 4 inches too far forward...what do I need...as far as carlini bars. I don't mind t-bars, or drag bars.

Not sure what the pullback is on your bike but I think it's as simple as adding your current pullback to what you feel comfortable with (+4"). That should give you an idea of what bars to look for.

Are you limiting yourself to t-bars? With a set of mini-apes (10") you have a lot more flexibility in positioning them forward or back. They can usually be had fairly cheap from people removing them from stock bikes. Check the hdf classifieds/ebay

Looks like either of these put you in that 4" ball park. Figure I lost an inch from stock when I added the Drag Bars at 6" pull back.
10.5 - 6 = 4.5 less adjustment from stock -1 = 3 1/2 pullback over stock on the 7" riser model or 4 1/2" on the 9" riser model.

I ordered the wild ones bars. 8 inch rise with an 11.5 inch pullback. That should work perfectly for me and harley gave me about $40 off...plus they are black!

I was looking at the super sweeps too. But, Im a bit concerned about lack of adjustability. I was thinking of going ape but like the look of drag bars.
So, Im thinking maybe going with Wild Ones 6" risers and then buying some drag bars. This would give me flexibility since I could change out the risers or bars to get the exact position I want.
Only drawback is I wont be able to internally wire the bars in the risers and I can't go Carlini (they dont sell the high risers, I beleive).

Any thoughts on my plan? thanks everyone.

P.S. I read somewhere else that its best not to have bars that raise your arms higher than shoulder due to fatigue--makes sense to me. Just wondering if anyone encountered this.

I had the same question a couple weeks ago, didn't really understand the pullback but I got a little clarification. I went with the 14 inch evil apes just because of the adjustability. I like you need about 3-4 inches because my back was hurting me on my fatbob. A short spin around town was cool, but if I do a day trip the bike has to sit for a week or two to give my back a rest.

The only problem I have is getting all the accessories, ie cables, risers, new grips, new rearview mirrors, and maybe a little powder coating here and there......I was thinking $500-$600 now my cost are $1500 or more..

THat may be because you're going through the dealer. There are plenty of online options to save you a bunch of cash which includes installing them yourself.
