I'm finally in NC for a few days with family and friends and I'm finally gonna ride the gap for the first time!! STOKED. Also just ordered some bash grit bars to replace my plain Jane 16s... how fast are they usually?
I am headed that way tomorrow afternoon ... I want to stop in Maggie Valley and spend some quality time at the Wheels Through Time museum (Dale Walksler has some unbelievable classic bikes there) ... then spend a day or so riding the Dragon, Moonshiner28, Blue Ridge Parkway and end up Sunday afternoon in Chapel Hill for a reception at UNC ....
Anybody from Raleigh Durham area (or the environs) any good bike nights during the week ... what Indy shop or dealership is near Chapel Hill (in case I need any emergent repairs) ...?

Wow...you're optimistic. I can tell you that one day is not enough to do all that you want.
The only entrance for the BRP I saw is down 74 towards Bryson City.
"Optimistic" ... you, sir, are being very diplomatic ... I think the phrase you were searching for was 'a dumb-a$$' ... LoL
I figure I won't get much riding ... my thinking is just enough to get a view ... a feel for the place and come back when I can schedule more time ....
I have this conference at Chapel Hill and figured try to squeeze in a little side trip ... burn up a few miles in a widely acclaimed riding area ....
My first time was on August 13th. This past Friday. It was the last real stop on my vacation for this year. 4400 miles in 13 days. Hackett, AR to Memphis (Graceland Tour) then to Lafayette, IN (visit my son who attends Purdue) then to Niagora Falls (both the US side and Canadian side) onto The Statue of Liberty (had crown ticket) and Grand Central Station then to Philadelphia, PA (Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell) onto Washington DC (took the Segway Tour) then to the Outer Banks and Ocracoke Island, NC then to Deals Gap and the Dragons Tail and then back home. Wanted to tour the Jack Daniels Distillery but got there too late (Lynchburg, TN). Camped 5 out of 12 nights. Had a blast. Going back to Sturgis next year but going to go through Yellowstone and all. Planning on 14 days on the road.
