I was caught in the stop and go this morning. I had to jump off the freeway immediately, and take the side roads. Took longer to get to work, but hell, my bike had air flow.
I will split traffic sometimes if needed. Do not like to, and I know it pisses off the cars and trucks, but they do not have to fix my bike if it overheats.
The thought has crossed my mind a few times to stop for breakfast with an email to the boss. He likes bikes, so he would understand.

If I was your boss, know what I'd say to that? leave the house earlier to bypass some of the traffic. Stop and get some breakfast to go, and eat it at your desk/work area before your shift starts....but that's just me.
No offense but how much traffic is there in Tampa? I live in the Washington DC area and I am almost always stuck in a slow crawl and my bike never has had a problem with overheating. I wouldn't be showing off for people, that wouldnt be the smartest thing ever. I have had people ask me to blip the throttle but I usually ignore them or shake my head. I do hate being in stop and go traffic with that engine kicking off all that heat
I live in Naples, Fl. And in the summer its HOT. I can feel the searing heat off my engine at those ridiculous 6 minute stop lights. I just avoid all traffic and roads with lots of lights. I no longer ride in the extreme heat of the day. Its no fun anyway.
I had a friend that was allways cranking his throttle and making noise to scare people and annoy them. I never saw the point. I ride slow and quite threw my neighborhood and try not to crank it up in traffic unless I have to.
Not everyone likes a loud Harley.
live every one else said> V-twin air cooled motor. NOT reved up oil pumping cooled motor.
That 275 corridor was scene of a horrific multicar pileup about 2 years ago. The Dept of Natural Resources did a controlled burn in dry season. The smoke & fog that day made for hell on earth. Its bad enough that a commuter rail system will be built. In my mind, backroads save lives.
Can't be any worse than death valley. You guy's seem too forget the h-d people have a field day with these same machines. Trying To Kill Them ! What a job!! They will leave it idling till out of fuel in the desert heat. A far cry from an hour on the florida freeway imo. I don't worry bout this stuff. Course I'm still waiting too get my ride back from the dealer. Oddly enough for a piece of electronic equpiment, I feel they simply did not test enough.lol.
Other day we were riding in stop and go in Indy...ambient temp was maybe in the 80s. My Dyna was so damn hot at a stop it almost burned my thighs...never seen it that bad. I was about ready to park it and get the hell off.
I live in Singapore where its 90f everyday of the year, and raining half of the time. Traffic is pretty bad and we ride a lot to Kuala Lumpur where traffic is a lot worse than when I lived in LA or DC. Never had any issues with over heating. These are tough bikes. We split lanes, ride shoulders, and go way beyond the speed limit. Gotta love riding in SE Asia. If you get pulled over in Malaysia/Thailand, giving the cop coffee money is the norm (but dont try this in Singapore).
