I have a 98 wide glide that I bought new. I have other bikes so it was ridden only on Harley type rides. It has 14,000 some miles on it.
I just picked up a 09 RK and went on a 1,300 mi trip. Very nice on the highway and sweepers. Around town and in tight turns it seems a little "lost". I also have a little trouble with u-turns in narrow streets or parking lots.
The WG is very nimble.........just rode it after getting back from the trip........(to do a back to back comparison).........and the RK seems to be very unhappy doing the "trials" stuff.
Is this the case for you guys that ride both, or is it me??

I joined the HD club in early '08 with an '06 Wide Glide. I got used to it, and soon my comfortable old Vucan 750 felt weird. I bought and repaired an '07 RKC late last year, and began riding it early this year. First impressions were good; it felt rock-solid and the front-end always wanted to self-center, regardless of speed. After a few solid months of riding it, I threw a leg over my Wide again...NOW who felt weird ! ! ! The first thing I noticed was how heavy the front end felt, and how it wants to fall-off to one side when going real slow. Yeah, it feels lighter than the RKC but I can creep along, balance, and U-turn the Road King much more easily than the Wide.
I think you should give the King about a month of steady attention, and watch how quickly it grows on you and feels "normal". I did replace the stock bars with Heritage bars, for comfort. I love my Wide Glide, and don't see myself ever giving it up, but it didn't take long to feel the same way about the RKC. I feel like I have the best of both worlds now.
