I have been wanting to do the same for a different reason(lower my windshield) but now I know it will work and that it looks good too!

Did you have any trouble with the wiring reaching that far forward?

Not at all actually, it was tight, but there is enough internal slack that I was able to just pull some extra wire out from the opening in the frame.

There are 3 very similar mounts with different lengths and drops made by headwinds:

Part # 1-0012
FXSTD Extension Arm
• 1-5/16” forward offset.
• 7/16” drop.
• 2-1/8” long.
• 3/4” thick.
• 3/8-16 holes.
• Available in polished aluminum, chrome or brass plated

Part # 1-0012-1
FXSTC Extension Arm
• 1-5/8” forward offset.
• 7/16” drop.
• 2-7/16” long.
• 3/4” thick.
• 3/8-16 holes.
• Available in polished aluminum, chrome or brass plated.

Part # 1-0012-2 (The one I am using)
Same as 1-0012-1 but extends forward slightly more (not sure of the measurements since this one is not on their site)

I went with this one since the location of the mounting hole on my triple tree is at a location where if the downward bend was not far forward enough, it would not allow the bend to clear the front of the tree...

Bear in mind, the stock bolts will not work since the mount is horizontal and not tapped as deep as OEM at the base (same thread size, just a shorter bolt needed). Also, the part that bolts the headlight, unlike OEM, is threaded and not a passthrough so the stock bolt with a collar will not work, you will need a bolt that is fully threaded. I picked up all the necessary bolts at a local MC shop for under $3, so I wouldn't recommend paying $10 or so for the hardware from Headwinds. All bolts are 3/8-16 thread like OEM though.

Here are 2 pics so you can see how the mount I have fits and works with the wiring with no problem. The wiring looks tight, but the handlebars are in the fully locked position and has enough slack not to tug anywhere and when angled forward does not bunch up..

Looks good, I was wanting to raise the headlamp like on a springer.

+1 on the goofy look with a QD windshield...why I don't use mine much anymore.

If both bikes have the same stock mounting block, which I believe they do, I would say yes.
