Joe I've always wondered if there would be a way to swap the hardware. Put the keepers on the inside and the backrest hardware on the outside.
Then, with the Edge Brackets in place, mark out where to cut out on the top of the bracket so that the backrest side plates could sit down inside the Edge Bracket. This would mean getting rid of the Edge Bracket lock but I could live with that.
not a bad idea, i thought of that actually but did not want to mess wiht all the sheet metal, i got antoher rear fender i am doing this winter... but that is a sick idea
Wyde, i will have to look at them, i know that i cna flip the hardware and then shave the lock to get them in nice and tight but i really like the lock on them, i ride into the city alot and it would suck to come out to missing one bag i do like the idea of tucking them in and having the detach sissy hook right up to that though! that is fantastic!
my buddy sugested that i cut speed holes in it, then make a mesh screen beind it and ghost in some lights, i may go with that before i scrap them, just for grins to see how they look. what you think?

That sounds cool. But in the end I think I'd lose them. Why are yours so far out but the other bike posted wasn't? Different manufacturer?
Then again they're only on when the bags are one right? Light them up with mesh and see. That sounds about the best. You'll lose some sheetmetal and they may not look as bulky.
