I got a noise, sounds like a bunch of crickets with a soar throat!the trouble is I can not hear it when the bike is not moving.I pulled the wheels and those bearings are good.I mostly hear it when I,m along side of a cement barrier. What else can I check ?Its not a grinding noise and the bike runs great.I just don't want to get stuck.

Could it be tires? Have you tried starting the bike and engaging the clutch while in neutral? Is it in every gear? Does it do it while the clutch is disengaged? How about when you're coasting (clutch disengaged) but in gear? How about if you shift up into neutral while moving both with clutch engaged and disengaged? How about if you engage the clutch while the tranny is in neutral but still moving? Does the sound increase/decrease or change as you pull on the clutch lever?
I think a couple of those were repetitive.
Be VERY careful but it might help if you can isolate the sound and WHEN it's doing it, then if it does it while in gear and the clutch is disengaged, hit the kill switch and see if you can hear its location.
There's just too many things you haven't eliminated yet. Rather than try to find what it is at this point, you can try to find what it is NOT.
There can't be that many things to go wrong. Drive belt, pulleys, clutch bearings (do Harleys have a throwout bearing fork?), transmission and finally the engine.
Oh, and tires.
Of course, there could have been a bunch of drunk crickets that got into your bike and are just singing. They'll do that. Hosers.

Jack it up and wash the belt with new dawn then rinse it good and go for a ride
It makes the noise only with the motor running ,in gear out of gear, clutch on clutch off.The tires are the same ones with only 4K on them.I plan to take a 250 mile ride on sat and I'm going to try the belt wash to see if it helps.Oh we don't have any cricket bars in town ,anyway they should be sober by now!
Cleaned the belt up as best I could and went out for a ride. The noise was almost gone! But after 75 miles it came back but not as loud.I think that may be it .Now how do I fix it for good?
