Shock measurements are mounting eye center to eye center.

I have been running 1" lowering blocks for over 6k miles with no problems and no bottoming or bad handling.

Thanks!

Another question... how do those lowering blocks work? Where are they mounted? From looking at the pic of your FXD, it appears that the bottom mounting point is moved back towards the rear axle.

I used blocks at first but when the funds allowed I got 11" Progressive 412's. I like them and I think my bike rides and handles great. I slid my fork tubes up just under an inch to even it out and I really like the way it looks.

I love the black Progressives, but good googly-moogly, they are expensive...

My shocks are the stock ones. I painted them myself... but I still would like to lower it some.

i went with the Burly Slammer on my 04 super glide. My bike is black and looks awesome with the black version of the shocks. However, you really need to be careful when going over speedbumps and making sharp turns as i have hit my kickstand a few times and scraped my exhaust pipes. But for me, the look is worth the trade offs.

Been meaning to ask - did you need a jack to slide them up? I bought the correct-sized torx bit, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

BTW - your ride is damn nice looking. Nice job.

i would HIGHLY suggest jacking the front off the ground, if not, when you loosen the bolts they will just shoot up from not being held down anymore

Yeah, that was a bit of a "doh" question... it just means I gotta go borrow a jack.

You will need a jack. I jacked it up until the weight was off the front end, loosened the bolts and slowly lowered the jack until I liked where it was, then torqued everything back up. One of these days I'll put it back the way it was and then drop in some Progressive springs but there are other things on the list first.
