Hi everyone. I bougt my first Harley this past Friday, a 2011 Fat Bob in Denim Black. I love it. Completely different riding experience But, alas the weekend is over and I need to get to work. I work on a military base and need a good place to put the decals. I really don't want to put it on the fork. I have a piece of metal that I could affix the decals too, but I cant seem to find anywhere other than the brake calliper to bolt it on.
The metal plate is about 1/16" thick. Can I safely thread the stock calliper bolts through the plate, and back through the frame and into the callipers, or should I just suck it up and affix them to the fork?
Talk to your dealer, if it has a good amount of customers that are military then they should know how to get the decal plate the mounts to the front caliper. You can remove the to mount bolts and there are two holes on the plate that are designed to aline with the mount holes, just put the bolts back through and re torque. Or you could do what I did, I removed the two sets of bolts, nuts and washers on the left side fend mount, put the bracket between the fender and the fork leg using the top hole, located where I needed to drill the second hole, removed drilled, debured, touched up inside of new hole (to prevent rust) and reinstalled. Tucks it in a little behind the fork so it doesn't look bulky.the pics below are both ways of mounting as I discribed. The one with the red sticker is mounted per design, the one with white sticker is the way I modified it.

When I was in the military I bought a flexible refrigerator magnet large enough to fit the decals then trimmed it for the perfect fit. then just slapped it on my tank or fork or whatever. most of the civilian gate guards never paid very much attention.
