I just bought an 07 Lowrider with factory alloy rims to replace my 08 Streetbob that was totalled 2 months ago. The previous owner did not wash the bike very often. The paint and the chrome cleaned up fine, but the rims are rather dull.I was thinking of using a powerball or powercone but not sure what kind of compound would be safe for the rims as the spokes have the black inserts. Does anuyone have any ideas or thoughts.....
I really love the bike. I had an 08 Streetbob untill about 2 months ago. I was on my way with my wife to get some new ink and we got hit by a lady making a left turn. We got a few bumps and bruises but the bike took a beating and was claimed totaled. I really liked the 96 inch with the 6 speed so I began my replacement search with 07 and newer. Picked this one up with just south of 3600 miles. It has VH Bigshots and a Fuel Pack and some kind of after market Air Cleaner, round and chrome, not sure who's. It handles very much like my other bike, just sits a little lower and does not have apes. That took a little getting used too as he had put drag bars on it. He had the stock setup which I have put back on. Miss apes though. I picked up the quick release stuff from ebay. About half the price of new. Never had a windshield before, thought I would try in the winter as it does get cold on Long Island, well see though. The only thing that I do not like about the bike is the key placement. When I chrome out the front end over the winter I might relocate it. In the mean time I have ground the nub off so the key is removable. Other than that it has been a very enjoyable ride. How do you like yours?
I have a friend who has the same wheels as you he uses Gord's and it keps his wheels looking good here is there web site if your interested http://gordsaluminumpolish.com/
Thanks for the tips....I figured any good polish would work. I liked the Road Winders you put on. New rims not in the budget this year. My brother is doing a new front end for his ride and he polished the triple trees and I believe he is sending them to Joe at the Powder Pro to be done with a clear powder coat. Going to see how they come out and maybe I can swing powder coating them this winter. For now I think I will buy the powerball and spend some time polishing them and see how they turn out.....I might even try that Gord's polish.....Thanks again....
