Hey bobnehoc congrats on the ride! I love the feel of my bike, I've ridden a buddy"s sportser and my pops has the ultra so I would definatley say its somewhere in between at least imho, problem is I just don't have enough time to do as much riding as I would of liked.

Anyway, keep us posted with the results of your wheel polishing experiment!

For now I think I will buy the powerball and spend some time polishing them and see how they turn out.....I might even try that Gord's polish.....Thanks again....
Are those rims clear-coated?? I don't know one way or the other, but if I were you I'd find out before you start putting anything on them.

Paint generally isn't real fond of metal polish.

Hey Joe, I got a question...

If you put clear powder coat on polished aluminum does it stay shiny or does it eventually oxidize or become less shiny?

Good question. A friend of mine raised the concern that the clear powder could turn cloudy.

What's the word, Joe?

Anyone have experience with clear powder on polished metal?

yes sir we do it all the time! we have a special clear that is formulated for polished metal, will never oxidize, has UV protectant in the powder so will not yellow, keeps things shiny! Yes i am pretty sure off hand they do have a clear on them, i can not recall but i know we always dunk those wheels in our strip tank to be safe. i am almost possitive they did have a clear on them. i know everyone says our lowers done on our bikes but i can tell you 100% that they do! i am pretty sure these wheels do to, ill see if sean can remember

here are some parts that are polished and cleared

GPS mount we milled for my brohters chopper

polished lips, black center, and whole wheel cleared

Thanks for the answers on the clear powder coating Joe. The wheels are turning in the brain for some winter work for you, no pun intended.

On the subject of clear coating on the stock wheels I can tell you the wheels on my 07 FXDL do not have clear on them from the factory, but my lower forks do.

Joe, your stuff looks top notch and I will definitely have to consider the clear powder coat. NYDNA you are right, the bike is really nice. Having come off an 08 SB I feel the Lowrider has alot to offer. While both bikes are similar they definitely have a different ride to them. I like the Apes on the SB better but the brakes feel much better especially the rear on the 0 7FXDL. Either way you can't loose. I will definately check the rims to make sure that whatever I use to polish them will not hurt them. Hey Bigdaddy33 when are we going to go for a ride?

They look really nice in black. My last bike was an 08 SB and it was all blacked out, even the front end. The 07 is all chrome and the paint is the factory White Gold Pearl. Not sure what direction to go but after seeing your pics and Joe's powder coating work it really gives me a lot to think about for wintre mods.....Thanks again and keep the rubber side down....
