I have the 07 Dyna Lowrider. I absolutely love it - EXCEPT the wheels. I got the 10 spoke cast aluminum thinking they would be easier to maintain than the laced chrome. WRONG!!!!
They are oxidized and look like crap!!!!!
I tried Mothers polish, I ordered Satin Gloss on line from some chemical company. I sat in my driveway today for 1 and 1/2 hours polishing the rims till my fingers went numb. And they still look like crap - the wheels, not my fingers.
Is there something out there that will clean these wheels. I see a lot of pictures with similar wheelson this site and they look great - mine suck!!!!!!!
I had the same problem on my 03 Dyna and used Never-Dulland a lot of elbow grease to get it off.
Then the next year I used the Chrome Exchange program at my dealer and got both wheels chromed, and they looked great IMHO.
Don't feel alone, my 07 Superglides wheels look like crap too. They have oxidation and pits, (rear wheel is worse than the front). I've tried everything to get them cleaned up but nothing works. I also tried never dull, spent over an hour rubbing and polishing, it helped but within a couple weeks they were back to the way they were. I'm going to have them chromed next winter cause I can't deal with this crap anymore. I'd like to just replace them but I really can't afford to throw a grand or more at the bike right now.
Very frustrated ....... wish I had known this before I bought it ...... would have bought a Street Bob instead.
Mothers won't touch that stuff (as you have already discovered). Get some Simichrome - it comes in small tubes, but a little goes a long way. You can find it online or at most BMW bike shops.
