Default Rust on a 9 month old scoot!

Got the Superglide in August, garage kept, Wandering if Harley will take care of this matter since its only surface rust? But I shouldnt have to take a brillo pad to this every year! Plus look at how many weights they put on geeezz! on both sides!

hey it wont stay brand new forever, its caused by humidity when some smal rust like that come out i use a spray silicone oil that doesnt damgage anything and rub it.

Chrome wire wheels rust man, they require constant polishing and cleaning, this is normal. I swapped mine for mags

I bought a used 07 SB 2 weeks ago, the bike has 2000 miles on it, the previous owner didn't take care of the wheels, rust all over the place on the rim and spokes. I thought I'll nit be able to clean it up, I use a flitz polish ball and chrome polish, run a hi speed drill, work around the wheels for 20 mins, rust is completely gone, looks brand new. I'm really happy with flitz, like others said, once the bike hits the road, it won't stay brand new forever, you've got to take good care.

My 07 has the same issue. If I wipe down the wheels from time to time with chrome polish and give them a good cleaning three or four times a year it keeps the rust away. Having that many wheel weights on the rim would have me a little concerned.

Who in the hell used stick on weights to balance the wheel? They have weights for spokes that look MUCH better than that. I would have a talk with the service manager over that and then not go back.

That is an awful lot of weight for a front wheel...Clean the wheels weekly. If you use a brillo or steel wool it will continue to rust in the same spot so stay on it. the nature of the beast espeically with chrome spokes. Weekly washing of the wheels is the way to go. And when I say washing I mean water, soap, and dry compeltely.

Thats why i switched to mags!! Got tired of cleaning them. The harley spokes just start to look bad way too soon. The rims are not hard to clean but the spokes are tough. This id the first time i have has mags on a bike in over 20 yrs i always liked spokes. As far as the weights ....that don't look right to me ....an awfull lot of them ...plus why stick ons?? Thought those were for mag wheels
