I got my 2007 FXDB in spring 2009, with about 7k miles on it. After a few weeks, the primary case started seeping where the mid controls would have been. Checked the manual, looked like tower gasket. Brought it back to dealer since I just bought it, they fixed it free.
I just noticed yesterday it's leaking again from the same spot. Of course, this is over a year and 13k miles later (I have about 20k on it).
Is this normal? Why would such an odd thing wear out like that? I'm going to bring it in, but is this indicative of some other issue?
i think vibrations between the 2 primary halves cause it to slip out of position... plus bear in mind it was designed to have the shifter shaft running thru it which would keep it from moving out of position as well...
i removed my outer cover and plugged both ends of the tower shaft with 9/16 freeze plugs from napa... 30,000 miles now with no leaks or issues... hope this helps..
