Is that with a 96" and stage 1?
I don't think a 2 in 1 Thunderheader is going to hold back on the exhaust.
LOL nope you're correct. After I read your sig I see that you have that and nope that exahaust will not hold you back
Yes mine is an otherwise stock 96". Stage one air cleaner and VH power duals with monster cans. With your 2:1 and a good tune you should be seeing 100f/lbs easy.
just do it and dont tell the dealer, but If you are looking for a bump the andrews 30t is the best performance money I have spent. when I did stage one with short shots it was noisey but no more power to speak off, pulled them and put on big shots felt some power gain, sound was much much better, then took all of stage one off and redid it with rinehart 2 into 1, wimmer better sucker, and pcv. now it pulled better, sounded great. still wanting to get the most for my stage one was the andrews 30t now that was a change, great low end thump, pulls great, much better on highway by far the best change, but I did alot of reading and comparing about cams I decided to go with the 54h because it is built for the 96" and it came highly suggested by bean at big boyz heads. so I will let ya know in a few days how it worked out.
your not fixing anything that is broken - your doing a performance upgrade - your buddies rationale isnt valid in this argument. Now, if you were thinking of putting the bike in the shop to get new OEM profile cams installed, your buddies thought process would hold water - you dig?
btw - im about to drop 54h's into my 07 - I have just about 40k on the bike.
it is fact that when you make a performance engine that the life of the motor will be sacraficed.. all "race" motors dont last too long compared to a stock one that is "PUTTED". if you had a built to the teeth motor you would sacrafice gas mileage and motor life...but if its what you want DO IT!
Thanks, everyone. Good advice, and sound conversation.
I'll think on it a little. Love the bike, and will continue to enjoy it. So far it has been a awesome ride. It is not slow by my standards. Maybe the money could go for other add-on part to help make it more enjoyable by not working on the guts. A nicer seat, some highway pegs, and probably a different set of bars would go a long way.
