Wife asked about a bike for her, and other babble.
Went to Hot Springs today for a family trip. Stopped by the Harley dealership there. Well guess which bike she was most comfortable on. A Softail, but she doesn't like them. She likes the old CB look.
I explained the differences between Dyna and Softail, other lines. She liked the Sportster Low, but hates the line of the pipes.
In the meantime. I sat on a Super Glide for the first time. Now, I love my Bob, but the Super Glide fit me better. Really it did. The bars are closer together, the trees have risers that can be changed. I actually liked the Speed-O up like that on the bars.
I really thought about making a trade for the Super Glide. AM I CRAZY? I guess I just missed out because the dealer did not have a Super Glide when I bought my Street Bob.
I am getting the Street Bob customized. I am about to receive shipment of a set of Loner Risers for the Street Bob. I have about enough money for the Mustang Wide Solo w/Backrest for the long trips. I also have my 3/16ths" Lexan to fab the bar-shield from another post here.
Working on getting a custom air cleaner cover from Loner, and have a custom paint job for the left side of my tank.
Maybe when this is complete the Street Bob will fit me better. I love the bike, but man the Super Glide was a nice bike. Nice price also. Maybe next go round will be a Super Glide.
Back to the wife. The entire family went to the Rally. We had a good time. We mainly just checked out venders, and we got some good deals on Chinese clothing that have Harley insignias all over them.
Black Jacket with Yellow stripe and Harley on the back with flames has a hoody liner. $100
Winter cap with blank Harley Shield $10
Kids shirt with Harley Shield $6
It was all impulse. Wife pulled out the CC and said, "that jacket will look nice on you." I love my wife.
About my wife's bike. Mentioned to her that we could spend $2500-$3000 for an older Sporty, and then make it what she wanted with another $2000. We would not have payments, and she would have a custom bike. She is an artist, and that really got her blood going.
It is strange that the Dyna is to wide, but the ST she liked, and it fit her perfect. Strange.
As for the SG, just think everything is interchangeable with your SB. I'm sure you can find the same bars cheap on ebay and trees too! Since you're modding your SB anyways, it would probably save you money making the SB to am SG and having the wife do a wicked paint job. I mean she does know you the best for a theme.
She will go to MSF, but has been riding an automatic for a while now. She spilled once at 40 mph trying to jump trolley tracks. After 5 years her road rash scars are just now not that noticeable. That was a scary day. I had been up all night recording some guys in a studio in midtown, and got a call around 9 AM that my wife was in a 2 wheel accident d'town, and the ambulances were in route. Every thought from she will be fine to raising my 1st born by myself went through my head. I thought a ghetto sled had T-boned her or something by running a light.
The graphic I have for the left side on my of the tank needs to be air brushed. I say it is 4 colors, and will be about the size of a playing card.
To tell the truth she really likes the Suzuki TU250, and I don't blame her. It is a nice looking single cylinder that would do fine on the back highways around our house. I told her I could get her an old GT250 or something cheap, and get it up to par, and she could paint it whatever she wanted on it, but after she gets comfortable with gears and a clutch she would need to move up so we could ride to rallies together on separate bikes. I don't want to put a 2 seater on my SB.
I am hoping that the Loner risers help with the reach I am getting from the stock bars on the SB. If not, I might order a set of bars for the SG, an use those with the Loner risers. I think the SG bars are not as wide as the SB bars.
Here to making it yours, and having a spouse that supports what your into.
