I have a 2008 fat Bob. I have the heavy breather but no other "power train" upgrades. I don't see the 103 screaming eagle aw "worth it" with the 110 SEs. What is the best bang for your buck power upgrade you would suggest? Mufflers?? etc.
The best bang for your buck is a good tune, if you are a DIYer check out the TTS tuning kit. Then there is no replacement for displacement, cams and a bit of compression will help, changing the final ratio... Muffler/exhaust systems are more for style and sound, air filter for style and perhaps 5000rpm plus horse power.
You can go big bore. SE103/110. S&S 106" Is getting popular. About the biggest you can go without having to drill the cases. Those are "kits". You could take your engine to a reputable builder tell him what you and go for it. You really are limitless in what you can do. There are also 113", 121", 124" etc but that is big money but yields big power with the right heads / cams.
Cams...too many to list. Using the search function will yield TONS of info.
Headwork...would certainly compliment a good set of cams.
What do you get when you combine the craftsmanship of S&S Cycle and the innovation of Star Racing? Something POWERFUL & FAST!
Dyno runs have the 126 making over 150 rear wheel horsepower and it delivers the most torque of any engine in its class - over 145 ft. lbs.
These 4-3/8" bore engines have similar general specifications to the original S&S "Tribute" 145 engines, but the new S&S 126 is a dual cam design combined with big valve B2 heads for ultimate performance.
For the rider who tours from sunup to sundown, the 126 delivers the massive horsepower you crave, in an engine that bolts directly into most stock chassis from 1999 and up, and is available with fuel injection or an S&S carburetor. Engine Specs & Dyno Chart
