The love bugs are back
I had the pleasure of riding through several swarms of love bugs here in NE Florida today. If you have never done that boy is that fun and they don't taste like chicken[:'(]. I actually found myself trying to dodge them at 70 mph (with no sucess) but after cleaning my glasses off a few times I decided I better concentrate on the road instead of dodging bugs. I think the worst part about it is cleaning the bike afterwards, those thing can get into places on the bike that are impossible to clean. I think next time I'll put the windshield on.

i lived in jacksonville for a while and before that, i thought they were bad in texas.....................SHEESH!!! WAVES of them!!
i was so annoyed that i believed that story about them being an experiment that flew out the window at UF, turns out it is an urban myth and they are just kinda out of control.

I really hate to hear this. I'm heading to Mississippi and I really don't feel like filling up on those tastey little bugs. I have to save room for the osyters when we stop in Mobile Friday night. I plan on getting up early Sunday morning to get back to Tallahassee so maybe I'll get back before they get to moving around much

Think of it this way. You don't hit or eat just one. They are coupled up and you are practicing birth control and population control.

Well we are in a mess of them here in SW La also, I almost don't want to ride in the middle of the day because they are so bad, but just a few more weeks or so and they will be gone around these parts. Thank goodness,safe riding.

Love bugs disappear at night, don't know where they go. An ammonia based cleaner seems to work best getting the mess off everything, but clean up as soon as you can, time is your enemy. Around the house, spray them with WD-40, knocks 'em right out of the air and they die in a couple of minutes.
