These are the pipes I pulled off my bike Saturday. They're Screamin Eagle
Pros that were on the bike when I bought it new June 2005. Coming back
from northern Pa. I got caught in the rain. The closer I got to Md. the louder
it got until this. I called a couple of dealers and told them the story and got
the standard answer I expected. "Well, you'll have to bring the bike in and
we'll liik at it, but the pipes are discontinued and we don't know what we can
do for you". OK, I like a challenge so let round one begin.
Well hopefully the dealer or MOCO will make it right. I would think that's not a normal problem.
If not try some Cycle Shacks, cost cheaper and they sound good.
I had a similar problem with a Screaming Eagle air cleaner. At 1K I had the stage I kit installed with Python pipes and a remap. At the 5K service I noticed a $48+ charge on the bill for an air cleaner filter. I asked the SM what's up with this? He said that the filter had deteriorated and that they had to install a new one. He went on to say that Harley had trouble with that model(brand?) of filter and had switched back to the K&N which I requested in the first place. Even though it was a known defective unit from Harley, I still had to pay for it. I will say that the dealer has given me very good service with the exception of that--

I've got thte same problem, but the dealer is going to cover it in the warranty as I purchased the bike with those components fitted.

Pros
Wow..those pipes look like they were red hot when you ran thru standing cold water. That will sometimes break em. I've had that happen on a Z28. btw, I have a Dyna with the big bore and pro pipes and I have no discoloring like you have. I'd like to know what you have for mods. Looks to me like it's running extremely lean.
