Danny Gray Weekday 2-Up XL
I have the rigid mounts for my sissy bar (a mistake) and there's about 7" of space between them or the seat will rub the mounts. Right at the screws, which would destroy the seat in no time. The DG XL sez it's an 8" passenger seat and I betcha it's every bit of that, and then some. My stock seat is tapered at the back and fits nicely between the mounts but the XL doesn't look like it's tapered in the back at all. As can be seen here --
This particular seat also has gel in the rider and passenger seats. I'm a little concerned about that because, well because there's two seasons down here -- Hot and dammed hot. So I don't wanna park my ride at the hooter bar, er, er, Church and get steamed nuggets on the way home. I understand that the gel can get, and stay, hot. Anybody?
If I have to, I'll go to the regular weekday 2-Up, here --
Wouldn't totally break my heart but I'd prefer the XL. Also, the depth of the passenger pillion has me a little concerned on the XL. I use the Harley Short Mount Sissy Bar. Not the mini sissy bar, the short. So the depth of the passenger pillion is critical. Too deep (thick) and it'll look like ***. Seen 'em too deep. It looks..... Terrible, IMHO.
Maybe my setup is a little bit of an oddball, but if anybody has any input on this, or if anybody has run into a situation like this, I'd appreciate a heads-up. I've never even seen a DG Weekday XL in person.
Thanks.
Does yours have the gel? If so, is it hot? If not, have you heard anything about the gel getting and staying hot?
Good looking bike.
No experience with gel.
This was a very comfortable seat for me with forward controls but not so much when I went back to mids. Since then I have switched over to a Mustang vintage solo and passenger pillow, which btw also rubs the uprights.
To do over I would have chosen the regular over the XL. Since my wife has her own bike she doesn't ride on the back much. Also, the regular weekday looks much better than the XL when you take off the sissy bar.
If passenger comfort is an issue I would go with the XL. My wife did prefer the DG to the Mustang. If it mainly for your own use and looks, I would chose the regular Weekday.

I just purchased the regular DG Weekday 2-Up two minutes ago. Impulse buy. Kinda. Tried to call the guy with no luck, said, "To hell with it" and went for it.
It's going off ebay tomorrow and I won't be here. Gotta go to Miami. I hate Miami. My only concern was whether or not it had the stitching on the rider AND passenger seats. Didn't get an answer. Oh well, either way it was a helluva good deal. I think. Maybe.
Supposed to have the gel in it. DG's website sez they incorporate their gel into the foam so it doesn't get as hot or ruin the leather. According to them, anyway.
I have mids because I have to. Crushed my left ankle years ago and the fowards just won't work. Can't flex my foot enough to shift gears. So I gotta use my heel. Miss my dresser with the 'heel-toe' shifter. It was great. I don't miss anything else about the dresser, just the shifter.
Hope I don't have the same problems with my mids but my feet generally don't rest on my mids anyway, usually on the highway pegs. We'll just have to see. I'm not especially tall or especially short either. 5'9" on a good day.
Passeneger comfort isn't that important. If "The One Who Must Be Obeyed" decides to go on a ride with me, it'll usually just be to the Blues Bar and back. Maybe 1/2 hour each way. That's about as far as she'll care to go. Which is just fine with me. She has a lot of excellent qualities but being a good passenger on a motorcycle isn't one of them.

Thanks again for getting back to me.
