Recieved yesterday a Mustang Wide (16.5 inch) Solo seat for my FXDC. (Thankyou Dennis Kirk!)
Man, what an improvement over the stock seat !! my butt is in comfort heaven!
I guess a long trip planned on the weekend will tell the final story, but for now I am happy. Seat lifted me up and forward an inch or 2 as well (which i wasnt expecting) but i have discovered that for me at least it is a much better riding position as my whole posture has changed for the better as a result.
Next thing to go on the bike is a big *** 7 inch rocket style headlight, then I am done with the mods/accessories...... for this year
Pics coming soon when i have the headlight mounted.
Same here. Added the Mustang wide solo and left 2 days later for a 500 mile round trip to Joplin, Miss and back. Little sore on the back of the thighs, but otherwise it was great. I also heard they get better as they get broke in.
I could never go more than 45 minutes on the stock seat.
I tried a Mustang Vintage Wide and it was too soft and "springy" for my personal use and comfort, but they're very well-built seats and at a good price. I settled on a Corbin Classic Solo. Very happy with that, and crazy about the Corbin Dual Tour I've had a year and a half. I'll probably sell my stock FXDF seat and the Mustang.

Sorry to take a slight hijack here.. but I have a question for Bob about his thoughts on the Wide solo. Did the seat change your positio on the bike? I have a FXDF too.
Yes, it did mainly because I sank into the seat. It basically put me about where the stock seat does, but I didn't sink down into that nearly as much. I've gotten so used to the comfortable firmness of the Corbin Dual Tour (and now Classic Solo), which seems to put me up about an inch, but really it's because I don't sink down about an inch. The Mustang probably puts me about a half an inch to an inch back from the stock position and with the sinking an inch down. I'm nearly 6' and 230 pounds. 33" inseam, forward controls.
