Default What can I expect from this mod?

I have an '05 FXD (carb) with the older SEII's and stock air cleaner. What can I expect from a stage one a/c upgrade and carb rejet?

1) Louder? With my Big City Thunder monster baffles can it or do I want it to be any louder?

2) Throttle response? This would be helpful.

3) Stop the decel popping? This is annoying.

Anything else??? Thanks in advance.

I'm not an expert, but I would think with the stage 1 a/c and a properly tuned carb, you would get better throttle response and maybe the decel popping would go away.

you probably wont notice it with the monster baffles... however, when you go to an open element air cleaner.. you can hear the carb / throttle body sucking ait in when you open the throttle!!

If the carb is properly re-jeted you will get better throttle response definately.

It probably wont be any louder, however, it may sound better.

Decel popping should either go away or be less. (the more you open up the exhaust, the harder decel tuning is!!!)

Thanks guys. I've been told this is something I definitely need to do...by other riders of course. I'm just trying to weigh the potential performance benefits VS the approximate $150 cost. I am right that the cost to do this upgrade is about $150, right?

The stage 1 upgrade/carb rejet is being done right now. I can't wait to get my bike back to see exactly what performance or sound quality improvements I get.

You might notice that the very low end (from idle) feels less torquey, but it will breathe much better and want to rev more than before. I found I shifted at higher RPMs than before as it seemed happier running harder after the change. Proper jetting is key, especially regarding the popping. It seems bikes tend to be too lean stock and too rich after most folks tamper with the carb. Make sure it's right.
