Ive been contemplating this same thing since I got my bike. During the thinking process, if thats what you can call it, I finally decided that the easiest and quickest way would be to just fab round covers to replace the two existing square covers. They would have to be big to cover everything but maybe I can notch them and hide the extras some how .. Well, after seeing this thread, I just may start really looking at it. Im lucky, I work in a pipe shop and I have all sorts of SS pipe to pick from. Just have to pull the bike in and start mockin things up.
To really do what this guy has done, it would take a complete re-work of the under seat area an Im not really interested in digging that far into my 3yr old bike. : )
Definitely going to keep tabs on this thread though.
Duly noted, in fact if its not too complicated to make Ill produce a small series, Ive already got an old school air filter for us poor 96ci owners in the making, finalizing the project these days, theres really nothing for the recent bikes who would like something really old school out there!
Also got a horn cover with the same design in the make
Ill post some pics when Im done.
Coxbow, im really interested in seeing what you come up with. here is my air cleaner I made last year. half open, half closed. Ill run it open and turn it forward when it rains.
It looks like they built the bike around a Fat Bob Dyna. One of my buddies has a 2009 Fat Bob and he and I both noticed how the frame section where the seat is appears to be longer on his bike than on my Street Bob when they are sitting side by side it looks like his battery sits farther back above the tranny while my Street Bob battery appears to sit more over the top of the tranny. Maybe it's just an illusion, if it is then it's a good one. That might explain why it looks like the frame section looks modified on the featured bike.
Size is indeed the problem (isn’t it always ;-) ) keep the OEM battery means a really big cover to… cover it ! Don’t wanna oversize the whole thing and make it the centre of my bike, that’s my point of view anyway… So I’m going for that lithium battery and I’ll try to make the fake oil tank a small or as size accurate as possible Nice job with the cover, and ingenious all season system !
