Thanks for the replies. One thing I forgot to mention was that when I put on the long stemmed mirrors, I also went from 1" drag bars that were 27-3/8" wide to chubbies that were 30-1/2" wide.

Earlier today I also installed my poly riser bushings, I doubt if they will help with the mirrors, but I just wanted to firm up the handling after switching from 4-1/2" to 8" risers....My ride tomorrow should tell me something.

Oh, I also installed my latest part tonight, a Dakota Digital Speedo/Tach combo. Wow, that thing can do some pretty cool stuff!

I bob my head up and down real fast to match the vibration of my mirrors - then eveything's clear. However, my neck gets tired after about 100 miles.

Default Update

Rode about 170 miles today with the new poly riser bushing installed, the mirror shake is pretty much gone now.

I also got to test out and finish programming my new Dakota Digital speedo/tach. Pretty easy to set up, shows all 6 gears, quarter mile times, engine temp and a dozen or so other handy displays. It was plug and play, the easiest instrument to install that I've ever had. That default tach is nearly useless, but it's easy to toggle to get a digital numeric read-out. Anyway, I like it!

Hemi, are you saying the revs can be shown in Digital number readout, can it show MPH & Revs in Digital at the same time?
Thanks,Graham.

Yes! It can be set to read both RPM and MPH in digital at the same time. In this setting you do lose the ability to read the odometer or trip meter, though.

Have a 2007 Low Rider as you can see. I had the same problem you had after I installed longer stemmed mirrors. They were absolutely useless at highway speeds. I also experienced terrible head bobbing issues. I notice you have a windshield on your bike..... as I have. I put on a QD compact windshield. Tried adjusting it up and down and tilting it forward and backwards. Nothing seemed to work for the head bobbing issue. After my husband damaged my WS.....I decided to get the slightly larger Touring Quick Detach WS. Not only was my head bobbing issue resolved, but my mirrors are rock steady now and vibration free. I was absolutely amazed.
So I'm thinking the longer stems on the mirrors somehow caught the wind deflection caused by the Compact sized windshield. The larger Touring WS must re-direct the wind past the longer stemmed mirrors is all I can think.
Just wanted to give you my experience.

Keen observation, I never considered the windshield to be a contributing part, but it just might be!

I did the same things. I moved the 'shield up and down, made extensions to tilt it back, even did a tank lift that did help eliminate some of the turbulence. I guess I lost track of when the mirror shake actually began, but it seems to have started as soon as I installed the long stemmed mirrors.

I thought the mirror shake went away with the installation of the new poly riser bushings, but today's ride tells me otherwise.

Perhaps the mirror issue actually started during the same time frame when I also tilted the windshield back.

I guess I should stick to one mod at a time and then thoroughly test it before changing something else.
