surferchop: I think you about nailed it. It could be done (switching brackets), but due to the curvature of the fairing, one would need to bend each tab that mates up with the fairing to account for the new angle. It's not hard, i did a bit of this to center the fairing better around my headlight. It's aluminum, and two pair of pliers gets the job done.

Mike Horrell: It sounds like you might be good to go. I should note that this is a plastic fairing, and it flexes (which is good for us). So if it's off just a bit it will still work. It fits my bike but it's not perfect. When I clamp it down you can tell that there's a bit of flex involved. Not enough to stress any of the parts, but it's there.
A week ago I located an Olde Skool independent Harley shop across town from where I
live. They've got tons of stuff hanging on walls and behind counters and according to the
Memphis Shades website, they're a dealer so I'm going to drop by this week and talk to
them as they may know of an even better choice for the specific fairing. I'm also toying
with the idea of going to a 7", HID headlight so I think I need to have a serious skull
bending session before I order parts, but there's no question that I'm going to pursue this.
If I use the same fairing you did, I'll probably just get some 1/4" aluminum plate cut to
match as spacers for both brackets and use longer bolts.
Great information and I think they both look great. I would like to know how the fairing works with regard to keeping the wind off you and if there is any buffeting. That is the only issue I have with my 2007 FXDC with the HD quick detachable sport fairing. I have tried a number of things with minimal results.

That brings up a good point. Headlights. If you use one of these fairings the stock headlight will sit so far back inside that it will look a bit goofy. Plus it may block some of the light.
I already had a 5.75 x 9" headlight. Plus I used an offset mount to push the headlight out a bit. That setup got me out juuuust far enough so it doesn't look goofy and so the light isn't trapped by parts of the fairing.
Anyone considering this should think about getting a longer headlight, preferably 9" at least with an offset mount.

You could use aluminum plate but Ace (and plenty of other hardware stores) sell spacers -- chrome even
That would save you from cutting. Plus, when you get the clamps mounted to the fairing brackets you'll see there's not a lot of room to work because the surface on the clamp where the spacer sits is not very wide/deep front to back.

I need a new windshield for my fairing. It's not tall enough. So I get hit in the forehead with wind. But that wind is not a buffeting kind of wind. The wind hitting my head is a constant stream -- not a series of well timed slaps from the wind, which is how I describe buffeting.
I can say there's absolutely no buffeting as compared to my HD windshield.
I use the Memphis Shades lower deflectors to reduce buffeting with my HD windshield. It's
completely counter-intuitive, but those lower deflectors do reduce head-level turbulence.
I also use the Superbrace fork brace and I had to radius the inner bottom edge of the
deflectors to give clearance.
I'd love to get rid of the deflectors.. they catch lots of road grime, are starting to scratch up
and also interfere with my crash bar mounted driving lights.. all reasons why I am so hot and
bothered about finding a better solution..
I just got back from Bike Week in Daytona. I had the Memphis Shades Batwing put on. They used the slim / fats windshield mounting kit to put it on. The only thing I had to do was move the turn signal down on the forks. I also had the 5" black windshield installed. This makes riding alot better due to the wind being deflected. I'll have the part #'s for the mounting kit soon.
