Default few performance questions

I'm looking at going with the Woods tripple nickle cams and was advised to use the Screamin Eagle MCR heads along with the cams. Now I'm not crazy about going with the heads and am looking for other options. First thing is where to get the heads ported and the other is where to get pistons to go with the cams. I would like to go with 10.25-10.5:1 compression when and if I decide to pull the trigger on this.

this is all on a 2010 wide glide with the tc96

thanks guys

Who gave you the advice? Woods? If not, call Woods if you are going with their cams. I have to admit though that Woods was no help to me, so I decided to go Andrews.

That cam is a good tq cam.Your heads should be ported & cc'd to get your comp right & to take full advantage of the cam.You can use your stock heads for that though. You don't need MCR heads. If it where me, I would call Bob & see could what comp to run the cam at.10.5 sounds good with a good tune, gas & exhaust!! I would send my stock heads out to Dan Baisley, & tell him what cam you want to run & what comp you want to be at, & he will make it right!!! Ask me how i know!!! lol Next ,you will be looking to address the crank with all the new tq you will be putting down!!! good luck!!

U-234: the heads were recomended by builder.

arealinvestor: why do you say I will be addressing the crank? will they not hold up to the power?

Another thing is, when do I have to start looking at bigger injectors, throttle body, belt drive......blah blah?

No more input on the subject? No other takers? Am I posting the question in the wrong part of the forum?

I think it is referring to truing and welding the crank.

Would I need that with a chain drive on the cams? Was planning on staying with the chain drive, not a gear drive.
At what power level do I have to start looking at beefing up other parts and what parts are involved? I was looking for about 120 rwhp maybe.......

Just spent 2 days flogging an FLTX with the HD 120R motor; comes from the builder with a 2 year warranty so I would presume that whatever is in it is "good"...there's a lot of money in selling "insurance" parts that you don't really need; a lot more depends on riding style and skill...ie proper warm ups etc...is this your first "triple digit" HP ride???

Owned....yes

Ridden......not even close

I have ridden plenty of bikes with over 140hp and I do have a good idea of what they are about. My riding style is more cruising and the urge to crack the throttle from time to time. I am more iterested in the extra power for the long steep hills with the ol' lady on the back......and the occasional crack of the throttle

I'm going the same route but with the woods lifters and no head work for now. I'm waiting to do head work when I get the funds to install some rev perf 107" cylinders. I can't wait to install the tripple nickle. I really like the sound they make at idle too.
