Default Problems with LED tail lights..........maybe

2010 Dyna Wide Glide. A few weeks ago I switched out my turn signal lenses for smoked lenses. Since the rear are also the brake lights, I installed Red LED tail light bulbs. Worked great, so I thought. Last night coming home from work in the dark I noticed my headlight dimming all of a sudden then get brighter. Did it all the way home. On the highway and through the hood. I put the regular bulbs back in, and last night going to work, I didnt have any headlight problems.
So was the LEDs the problem? Why? Someone said I needed a voltage regulator to run LEDs. Others said it wasnt needed.

And second question, will a rear fender from a 2010 Fat Bob fit on a Wide Glide?

Leds shouldn't have any major draw on your system like that. Only reason you'd need to worry about the regulator is because they wont flash like stickers do. They'll flash faster.

I didnt think they would matter either. Its flashes at the same speed. Parts guy at dealer ship said it needed a regulator for them to work right. Thats why I was hopeing somebody on here would know for sure.

Default Regulator

That would be a load equalizer. Harley sells them at all the dealers and it just plugs into the wiring harness coming from the rear end under the seat. I can't find the part number for the Harley one but, try this web site.....BTW I have read that any model after 2008 doesn't need an equalizer so I don't know for sure.

I was hoping to get something for sure from somebody that the LEDs was causing my problem. But for now, without them, it seems to be working correctly.

one way to find out, reinstall the std bulbs and see if the problem goes away?

I purchased the led conversion bulbs for my 2010 wide glide and took them back, the brakes were not as bright. I was assuming because they tail lights have to perform all 3 functions?

Default fender swap

The fat bob fender is a direct bolt on to a new wide glide. I just installed a wide glide fender on my fatbob and have a fatbob fender in vivid black and the strut covers if anyone want to buy them.

As far as the lights go it sound like the led's are drewing some of the power away from the headlight. A load equilzer may be the anwser.

Is the fender a chopped fender or full. If its a full would you trade it for a stock chopped fatbob fender? The color is black ice denim.
