Question about 2 into 1 pipes

I love the way my ---Vance & Hines Pro Pipe HI-OUTPUT sound and perform (except they are very hot against the leg (I have ordered the wrap)

After countless dyno tests Pro Pipe Hi-Output was built utilizing tuned length headers that step from 1-3/4” to 2-1/4” to optimize exhaust gas velocity and scavenging while also maintaining the perfect balance of exhaust back pressure, assuring crisp throttle response and maximum roll on power. In addition, the merge collector features handcrafted internal knife edging to further improve scavenging efficiency through the collector.
Following the collector, the megaphone immediately tapers out to a 3-1/2” muffler body that expands to 4 1/2” for increased baffle area. Keep an eye out where the muffler meets the head pipe. It will not be long until you get hot gases blowing up your leg. I bet if you go out now, you can wipe your finger on top of where the flange is located (where the muffler meets the head pipe), and you will have carbon build up. I had to return mine because of the bad design. V&H customer service recommended fix was to use Gasket Maker paste. BS.. Not for a near $1000 pipe. Just an FYI.
I replaced the Hi-Output Pro Pipe with a Thunderheader, and it yielded better HP and better Torque.

I don't think the difference is that much from one system to another, a 2-1 will give you a little more on the bottom but it isn't anything like most describe. I had V&H Sideshots and lost a few ponies going with my Supermeg, I had to add the open cap to get it right. My 08 did have cats in them.
