My brother has short shots on his fatboy 88. I like the decibel level, but

real preference there, don't want real long pipes though. Open to any brands,
would also like minimal power loss. Sub 500 would be idea.

If you want a full exhaust, V&H 2-1 are great. Lots of pics in My Garage (click on the link next to my avatar). I have the big radius because I like the look and sound, also got a nice bump in power. The Pro Pipe supposedly gives even more power increase, but I like the devil-tail curve of the big radius better. You'll lose your passenger pegs with the big radius though. So if you plan on riding 2 up, go with the Pro Pipe.
The V&H baffles get louder over time (mine did anyway), so even though they sound great when new, they get better after a few thousand miles.
