Default Flat Track Handlebars

Will be changing over the front end from the 39mm narrowglide to a 49mm mid glide with Ohlins cartridges (will do a post with writeup on the install and performance in a week or two) and was thinking about changing the handle bars to a Flat Track style.

I saw the G5 on Flanders site: http://www.sideroadcycles.com/Americ...h/TT-Flat.html

Anyone have these bars or similar bars on their on their bike?

Looking for opinions (pros and cons) regarding the handling performance and cruising comfort.

I've been riding with the Flanders buckorns for years now and they're real comfortable, but thinking that the Flat Track style would be a bit more agressive especially when hammering the throttle and through the twisties.

Thanks.

I had the H5 but I know what you're talking about.I liked them allot better than the original mini apes on my street bob and the Santee mini apes I have now.I know, why do I have apes now? Long story, basically I went with looks over comfort.I thought the apes looked better with the seat and back rest I have now.In any case the bars in my sig pic are Flanders flat track bars and I liked them allot.I think you'll find the wide width will make the steering feel lighter and the lower height will be more comfortable at speed.

I have Nightster bars, pretty much because they were half price take offs from a dealer. They are similar to the Flanders but not quite as nice. I wanted to try out the position to see how they worked before spending more money. So far, so good.

I would think the 7.00 center on the H5 would be better with the 49mm mid glide front-end than the 4.25 center on the G5.

Just a thought.

I agree regarding the looks of the apes over the flat track, but I think from a handling perspective the Flat Track would be better for performance. I will look into the Flanders H5. Thanks and BTW, nice looking ride.

Thanks SteveO. I was thinking the same thing about the center width. Didn't want to get too wide, although Special Ed said he liked the way the bike handled with the wider H5 bars.

I switched from the stock mini apes to flat track bars with very similar specs to the H5 bars and I'm real happy with 'em on my '09 Street Bob...I added the Loner Industries 2" risers due to my short reach.

Here's a better pic of the bars w/2" risers...

Default FXDX bars?

I have been thinking of putting FXDXT Bars on my StreetBob for the same reason- handling. I have the FXD OEM's now, but here's the comparison:
FXDXT FXD
1" Diameter 1"
7" Height 6"
31" width 29"
51/2" center 61/2"
both have 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 " clamp area.
