depends on how you ride.. faster higher revving creates more heat under load. Just sitting and waiting, I would say 3-5 mins for "everything" to get to a "been riding" temp.

I've always gone on the 10-20 miles will/should get the oil temp up to operating temp. which in turn have the engine up to temp. In the southern climates of course the distance could be halved.

Help? That just made it more confusing...

To me, a little common sense goes a long way - let it warm for a minute or two, then go easy for a bit. But at the end of it all, the bike was made for riding.

Touch the rear cylinder rocker cover and if it's warm to the touch you are good to go. When you get to where ever you went let the motor run for 30 or so seconds before you shut it down allowing for even oil flow all over the internals. It takes about 20 minutes of freeway speed to get the motor as hot as it's going to ever get.
A mechanic told me this so I do it. And no, if he said jump off a bridge I would'nt.

How can actual data showing how long it takes to get up to running temps not be helpful?

Takes well over 2 minutes. Proof that commom sense aint so common?

Sorry, forgot what I was going to post ! LOL

No actual need to warm up the bike... Start it, wait 10 seconds for the oil to circulate, leave off on your ride nice & easy, no lugging, no over-revving, let the motor warm up as you go for the first 5 mins, and you'll be fine.

Anyone tells you different is full of ****.
