I have the K&N cone style breather "dont know the proper name for it"
Anyway....I go thru aout 1/2 qt of oil every couple of weeks....Now I think I know where it is going....Inside my breather, becuase sometimes it drips out of it....
Is this normal..?.. if not what can I do about it....
Thanks for all replies....
I use a spray-on type and just lightly coat the filter. A 1/2 qt every two weeks, Holy cow! The oil is only needed to coat the element and trap dust and dirt. I don't know how you can even get the filter to hold that much without dripping all over the place. You are using way too much oil... I would take the filter off and wipe out any excess oil from the inside of the breather tube. Then lightly oil the element.
Ooops...My bad, obviously I thought your were going through all that oil on your filter element.

Reason: Mis-understood the original post.
Make sure you are not overfilling your oil when you add it.

After you go through that 1/2 qt of oil, try NOT adding another 1/2 qt to the crankcase and see if it stops spewing. If it stops, mark your dipstick at that level and call it full.

I had a heavy breather style a/c installed. Had is the key word. The blow-by was so bad with the nice chrome breather filters that is would spray down the right side of the bike. It's not the breather's fault. It's the design of the breather system within the motor.
Doherty sells a "fix" for like $350 or so?
It does make a mess though. 1/2 qt a week is a lot of oil though.
So what you guys are saying is....If when the engine is cold, and the oil just touches the bottom of the dip stick and this level keeps it from spewing, then leave it at that level....
That level, wont harm my bike....?

That does not sound right, check level with a warmed up bike to be sure. The harder you ride the bike, higher RPM's etc, the more blow-by you will get, it is caused by pressure in the crankcase. So if you wind her up a lot, expect it to some degree.
Do some checking with the motor hot and see what that shows you.
