Question What is that?

My used 2008 Fat Bob came with custom controls. So the left side shift linkage looks like this...



In the yellow circle, you see that there's an extra lever or connector or something and another tab above it. Was this part of the original linkage? Should it be connected to something now? Closer look...



Should I remove that top tab?

The lever that goes through the primary looks like it was for the mid controls that come on the bike stock. The other one, not to sure. The lever isn't a big problem since it's not hooked up to anything. Some people just don't want to remove the inner primary cover to take the lever out, so they leave it like that.

Looks like its to keep the stock shaft from moving around.

Those should be connected but it looks like the bracket going to the crank is the wrong one.

That bracket holds the mid shift shaft that is the **** sticking out of the left side of your primary. That is where the stock shifter use to be.

That is a hideous way of hiding the stock shift shaft. LOL

I think you can make something work that would look a little better, unless it doesn't bother you, then leave it be.

whoever did the contorls installed htem the easy way and did not remove the shifter linkage there

That is the most awesome short cut I have ever seen for the mid shifter shaft! I bet it doesnt rattle though.....
