Those are your O2 sensors I believe. You need them.

Cheers Jay,

not the sensors, there is another cable that runs from below the seat to the pipes where the header pipes meet the mufflers. Not sure what it is

I didn't see that wire on mine when I took the mufflers off. Is your bike a California bike, or a International bike? They are different than my bike I believe which is a 49 state.

I got nothing for you on that one. Sorry. They may have some emissions thing that mine doesn't have. Good luck. Have you phoned the dealer? You may want to give them a call if you don't get an answer here.

Active Exhaust control, only on overseas models. H-D says it is to enhance performance, but I think it is to quiet the bike at idle and cruise. The more throttle you give the more the valve opens. It is only located on the bottom muffler. You may need to remove the cable from the module.

Could it be like those flaps in old smog vehicles to raise the engine temp faster when its cold. more eficiant than choking it. just a thought.

cbz1200n, From what you describe it sounds very similar to Yamaha's EXUP system. VW uses a similar system on the VR6 AWD GTI

I was not aware that overseas HD's had an exhaust device like this. It is used to to enhance low end (with more back pressure) and opens up the exhaust flow for better top end. The best of both worlds. Something like drag pipes without the negative effect on low end torque.
