my 2010 FXDC, bought here in switzerland, is factory rated at 78 hp. Is this the same rating as a bike turned out for the US domestic market?
Feels like it is less than the US models. Friend of mine just imported his 2008 FXDC from the states and it seems to have more giddy up than mine. He maintains its still stock.
Anyone have an idea on this??
If it is less i'd be VERY interested to know what is making the difference so that i can remove/replace/retune.....
TIA!

Hi from the UK! The bike you have is an International spec, the same we get in the UK. They are built to meet tighter noise regulations than US models. If you buy the factory parts list you will see this difference in such things as the mufflers, possibly airbox and other related parts.
So you are quite right, your friends US spec bike is likely to be slightly better in performance. You have your government to blame, according to info I have read! They insist in vehicles being quieter than most other countries, despite the fact most of you will probably replace the exhaust as soon as you can!
To pep your bike up I suggest you make the traditional stage 1 mods, to airbox, efi and mufflers. Your bike may also be higher geared than US spec, certainly my 1990 bike (owned from new) was.

Harley does not post or advertise HP in the states. Thanks for letting us know what is advertised over there.
You can see what other markets get by switching country at the bottom of Harley's home page. As an example here in the UK we get an 883R Roadster not available in the USA and metric data instead of real inches!
After installation of a Stage II Arlen Ness Big Sucker intake, Rinehart Cross-back exhaust followed by a DirectLink Tune - 79hp and 91 ft/lbs tq. - respectively.
For reference if altitude matters I am from Colorado roughly 6,000 feet above sea level.
Seems to be an average gain.. Certainly can feel a difference in power
