Default Horsepower question.....

my 2010 FXDC, bought here in switzerland, is factory rated at 78 hp. Is this the same rating as a bike turned out for the US domestic market?

Feels like it is less than the US models. Friend of mine just imported his 2008 FXDC from the states and it seems to have more giddy up than mine. He maintains its still stock.

Anyone have an idea on this??

If it is less i'd be VERY interested to know what is making the difference so that i can remove/replace/retune.....

TIA!

Might be the active exhaust thing you guys have going on. Not 100% on how it functions but we don't have it and it may have a different OE tune to run with it.

possibly, but i've already cheated that little export add on. Still the ESM may not have caught up to that fact. ESM is supposed to be able to "adjust" automatically, but maybe opening up the butterfly is asking it to retune beyond its range. will research that.

open to other suggestions as they'll all go onto the "have a good look" list.

I'm from the same part of the world Haven't ridden an american harley but I'm guessing the EU regulations for pollution are stricter in Switzerland.

When I tried a stock fatbob it just feels like it wants to give more...
On mine I changed the airfilter, had SE slipons and tuned the ECM with a PCIII...
No it runs like I thought a harley would run

Which part of Switzerland are you in ?
I'm in Geneva

planning to go a similar Stage 1 route myself, but I like to know where my "real" starting point is. Had any issues with the Strassenverkehrsamt with your mods?

any decent indies down the french end of the country?
I am in Zug, not a lot of choice beyond the HD dealers here...

It maybe different over there, but I think the factory rating of 78hp is at the crank. It's more like 64-66 to the rear wheels. Doing a stage 1 upgrade will wake it up noticeably!

Harley does not post or advertise HP in the states. Thanks for letting us know what is advertised over there.

Haven't had an issues with the police. The Screamin Eagle slipons are not very noisy.
When I'm idling my bike is not making a huge racket :P unlike some others with 883 Iron's... It's crazy how many iron's they are selling in Geneva..

I don't go to the only HD dealer in Geneva, he has quite a bad reputation... All the work on my bike is done by Black Way he used to be a cop and every modifications he does is street legal

Just out of interest I thought I'd compare the Swiss spec to the US one and our UK one.

In the Switzerland and the UK the Dyna Superglide Custom is listed at 123Nm torque (no power number given), which is 91 ft lb. In the US its listed as 92 ft lb. So I'd say they are the same allowing for conversion errors.
