Default O2 eliminators from a pc3

so, looking at putting on the PC and while i'm at it, thinking about the just doing pipes too. since it has the o2 eliminator, it opens up a few more options on available pipes but the question is........

why would i want to do this?

why would i NOT want to do this.

(use non-sensor pipes and the eliminators that is)

The O2 eliminators are necessary with the PCIII regardless of weather or not the pipes are changed. The eliminators fool the computer into thinking everything is A-OK with the fuel mixture, when in fact, it is entirely out of range from what the engineers originally designed it. Without the eliminators, the computer and the PCIII will be working against each other.

The O2 eliminators themselves plug into the wiring harness. So when you say they open up some pipe options, you're right in that you don't need to buy pipes with O2 sensors built in since nothing will connect to them.

IMO, removing the closed loop option is a huge mistake. Open loop EFI is no more efficent than a carb, and maybe less so.

You still have the same selection in exhaust systems. You can weld sensor bungs into any pipe.

I've been looking at aftermarket pipes for my '06. The big draw back is that H-D moved the location of the oil filler. Some systems seem to make checking the oil a little difficult. But I havn't been able to get a side by side view to verify this.

so you don't have to buy pipes with the O2 holes already in them......eh??? What do you do with the sensors that left laying around

I agree, if we can eliminate the need for the O2 sensors then we can run any pipe that is available for the 05's as well

I think there were some modest frame changes on the 06 Dynas, you may want to check with the people that manufacture the pipes you are interested in and be sure that those particular 05 pipes will fit. As for the o2 sensors left lying around, just hang on to them, if the EPA gets really bad about making all motorcycles compliant with EPA standards you may need them in the future in order to pass any kind of #@*&% inspections they dream up.
