Default Black Progressive 440's...

I ordered them yesterday from Jim's Cycle Shop, and I can't wait to get them on the bike. I got the 11.5" black 440's. I know a few guy's have changed out rear shocks, and I wanted to know if you used a lift, did them one at a time from the kick stand, or some other way. Any advice on the easiest way to change them? Thanks as always for any insight.

I did mine on the kickstand one at a time, which is NOT the way to go. The right one went on fine, but the left one wouldn't line up. I ended up having to jack it up to get enough clearance anyway, so I would suggest using the jack from the get go.

I just put 418's on mine and it was easy Here's how-
Take a band clamp (tie down) and tape the body of the band clamp so it does not scratch the new springs,
Loop the webbing over the eyelets so you can feed the bolt through it.
Start the upper bolt to hold the shock and clamp down until the holes line up.

Now, that being said, I went with 12.5" shocks so if you are lowering I would remove 1 shock only and have a friend sit on the seat till they line up. (easier to load it with just one shock)
Bolt the first shcok in place and WHILE THE FRIEND IS STILL ON THE BIKE- remove the other shock and replace with new one.

To me, I don't like jacking the bike up to be un torqueing those bolts and replacing shocks. It requires a lot of leverage and tipping is a concern.

I got an idea-
Use my meathod for lowering shocks but adapt it:

Remove a shock from 1 side
Put tie down clamp around shock that is on the bike.
Tighten until the eyeletsmeet on new shock
loosely bolt on new shock
remove the other stock shock WHILE CLAMPED
put on other new shock.

From the suggestions above, I think I'll be doing a combination of them. I think my lift will come into play for sure. Thanks guy's.
