Well up here in Michigan there isn't much more to do with a Harley in the Winter but mods. Unless you like to drive in snow, ice, and salt. After 5600 miles on my new 2010 FXDC I'm just not happy with this bike, I love Dynas and the 2 in my group are great to drive, but I got stuck with one that the motor vibrates like my old solid mount Sportster did at certain rpm ranges. I have Threads on here about my problems so I won't bore you with the details again. I got to say I would love this bike in every way if it wasn't for the harsh motor vibes. At this point all I can say is when HD raised the crank run-out number so high like it is now and you buy one that is off just to the point of irritation yet under the high speck number, your stuck. So for the very first time ever no Winter mods, I'm not putting one more dollar or time in to this bike this Winter. I love this Harley so much and yet don't enjoy driving it, very odd feeling. With the economy like it is in Michigan I cant take the chance of spending more money for a different model or selling it at a big loss. Best wishes to all of you that will be doing Winter mods, I wish I was one of you.
My 06 SB is going on to the shop for a 95 inch kit, 10.25 to 1 pistons, Fueling reaper 575 cams, ported/polished flow tested heads with bigger valves and springs, SE Super Tuner, race roller lifters and I forget what else I have in my pile of parts.
Already have 3 seats, did the head light switch last year, new front fender this summer and some other small stuff.
flh bags,
new pipes, not sure what yet?,
forward controls or hiway pegs(have both),
either chrome or powder the front end,
and possibly a front fairing, I'll have to wait and see how long and cold the winter season is....
Hi, 2009 fxdl, looking to chrome triple trees and forks. Probally just get them from Harley, any suggestions on other places? Also a bullet headlight, new grips, pegs and progressive shocks lowering the bike 1 inch in the rear.
Since I'm pretty much happy with the way the bike looks and feels, my plan is to replace the grips. Since I ride this sucker, the grips actually show groove marks from my fingers!

You know...if you love it that much, and it is the crank run out for sure...why not split the cases and have the crank trued and welded? I remember reading it is only a few hundred bucks worth of labor and your time to tear it down.
Just a thought, if it fixes the harshness of it, I'd do it!
