2007-up had fewer issues, but some of the latest models run hotter (because of EPA regs).

Pre 07 Big bore kit gets you 95"
07 up Big bore kit gets you 103"

Then there is the 6 speed, bullet proof tensioners, and frame improvements.

Usually the guys that push the older models are ones that have the older models and can't afford the newer models.

This new location is the most awkward thing I have ever seen ...

I could put my key in under my right leg without even looking on the EVO... (and it was right next to the battery)

A Chuck Norris round house kick to the face to who ever came up with the new ignition location..

Other than that, I love my '07 Street Slob !!!
Could,nt agree more regarding the key.

I think it was bobnehoc in an earlier thread who said to just grind the damn nub off and put the damn key in your pocket. Problem solved.

This is true. However, for those that normally mod their motors, it's a non issue. While some of the heat comes from the lean condition, most of it comes from the epa cams that want to burn the fuel so thoroughly.

Adding fuel to the stock cams helps some, but once you swap cams (even for the mildest cam) you forget that a heat problem ever existed!

For those that like to keep 'em stock, the heat remains an issue. Adding fuel (even xied's) will relieve some of that, but not entirely.

Regardless, the newer bikes are indeed better.

If I wanted to put the "damn key" in my pocket , why would I grind the nub off..

I'm talking about when you just want to shut it off for a minute (like stopping on side of road or waiting for you buddy to fuel up ...)

So I should take my gloves off, take the key out and put it in my pocket while I wait for some one to fill their tank. then when they are done put the key back in , put my gloves back on and hope it doesn't spit my key out in the meantime ?

That makes sense..... did you design this thing ?

It's a we todd did design ...period ...

On my softail, the key almost never see's the ignition.

Hard for me to relate to this key-spitting thing.
Perhaps he meant that grinding the nub would allow you to ride keyless?
