Second project the winter - Chrome sliders
Notables...
1) the 12mm allen is a bitch to find, had to order it online.....
2) the job can be done with the forks still in the triple tree
3) the best way to break loose or tighten the lower 12mm bolt is with the fender installed
4) Have a milk jug available to drain the oil into
5) you don;t have to remove the internals of the strut....
6) the upper strut nut is a P.I.A. to put back on and overcome the spring pressure...make sure the bike is solid
7) chrome looks way better than the stock struts

8) the lower stops are upside in the picture in the manual.....do not install like this, they fit like a cup over the end
It really isn;t difficult to do, if you know your way around a tool box you'll be ok.....

Now a couple of questions about the upper dust shield. How did it come off, easy or hard? Did you destroy it in the process? I see your kit had a couple of chrome replacement shields. Was there any sign the the stock covers were glued on or are they just pressed on? I'm just wondering what to expect.
I did a fork overhaul on the GF's FXR this summer and the shields just popped off, but that was an old bike and they might not have been the original.
