If you're not in too big of a hurry I will have a Street Bob tank available toward the end of Dec.Also you might want to consider doing a Screaming Eagle Dunlop 180 instead of changing your wheel it looks good and will cost allot less.Chopping fenders is a cost effective alternative but will never look like a "bobtail".Anyway have fun I say pick out what's most important to you and do that first.I will also be getting rid of my chopped fender in the future but it needs allot of work.
I actually want a 10-11 wide glide rear fender, but am not willing to do the work involved to make it fit.
Here are the parts I have so far (or are on their way)
ˇ 08 FXDL anniversary tank (small dent that can easily be fixed)
ˇ brand new HD 06-08 DWG bobtail fender
ˇ chrome wide glide dash
ˇ newish silver face 4" speedo - my speedo has been broken since i bought the bike. Found a seller who deals with used speedos, he hooked me up with one off a new wide glide that had 30 miles more on the odometer than mine did so i could switch em out exactly.
My tank and my fender are already here, and my girl might buy me the bars for christmas. The r6c bars are nice, but i don't like ape hangers. Never did until i saw JaronB's bob with bonanza's & i want those in particular. And they're only $130.
The main reason to go to cross bones wheel other than the 200mm tire was because i want spokes...badly! But the SE 180 would be cheaper. I'll look into it. As for the taillight, i don't like side mount plates, so I'm thinking run, stop, turn module & trimming the license plate to fit the inner curve of the bob fender snug & fabbing a mount.
Now questions, my fxd has no indicator lights. will lights from any dyna fit into the new wide glide dash? That's mainly a question for the guys that have swapped tanks.
tank internals are transferable from your tank to the new one ....
resourceful ... when you laid out your projects, it appears no one guessed how far along you were in acquiring the needed pieces ....
being a penny pincher, i created a parts list & started scavenging the internet as soon as i bought my bike back in september. It helps a lot to be patient.

No offense but this doesn't make sense to me.It seems like a 10 /11 wide glide fender would bolt up just as easily as the "bobtail" that you have the only diference being you'll need a wide glide tail light for the bob tail and would need a run/brake light module for a 10/11 wide glide fender.Or you could have cut you FXD fender to look damn near identical to the wideglide fender and of course would still need the run/brake module.I've been drinking awhile so maybe I'm missing something.

i plan on cutting my stock fender up when i get the bobtail on and try to make it look like a wide glide. My understanding is the 10/11 wide glide fender is wider than my fxd's struts. the bobtail bolts right on ready to go, throw on the hd $50 module & a homemade plate mount & good to go.
